Five Tech Items I Love as a Corporate Mom of Two with ADHD

Hatch Restore

When you work in social media and influencer marketing + also have hobbies that involve social media, you end up on your phone…a lot. I love waking up slowly to the light turning on and music that isn’t my phone alarm that either sends shivers down my spine or I completely ignore and snooze for two hours (I wish that were an exaggeration). Let’s just say it’s much better for my mental health for multiple reasons.

Timer Cube

I’ve seen more technically advanced versions of this, but the more basic the better IMO. When I have tasks I am avoiding or when I’m getting very easily distracted, I know it’s time to use the timer cube . My personal rule is that when you set the timer, you can only do the ONE task you need to finish.

If you follow me on Instagram, you know my room is chronically messy. On the weekends, I’ll make my kids set the timer and supervise me cleaning (I swear this isn’t punishment for them). We put on some fun music and make it a whole thing.

The Brick

I already loved this product and then I learned the two founders are from Wisconsin (!!!). So now I love it even more.

My favorite use cases for the Brick:

  • Block social media channels during the work day so I don’t get distracted.

    • I’ll put the Brick on our refrigerator while I work in my office upstairs so it’s not easy to access.

  • Block social media channels before I go to bed so that if I can’t sleep in the middle of the night, I don’t fall into a social media doom scroll at 2 a.m. or when I wake up in the morning.

Bose Ultra Open Earbuds

I had been searching for new headphones throughout the year because my AirPods have audio issues and aren’t very comfortable. I bought the Bose Noise Canceling Headphones in hopes they’d work for my flight to Australia last year, but I got a really bad headache and nauseous when I tried them on (I looked this up on Reddit and it is a thing). The brand very generously gifted me the ultra open earbuds last month and I haven’t been able to shut up about them since.

They’re incredibly comfortable, stay on securely and allow me to still hear my surroundings so that I’m more alert while I’m walking around the neighborhood or can intervene when the sibling fights escalate very quickly.

Bluetooth Foldable Keyboard

Most people who see me IRL with this laugh at first but let me tell you, multiple girlfriends (and even Bill) have ordered since testing it out. Bill actually just ordered the version with a mouse trackpad, and I’m stealing it this weekend to test more.

My favorite use cases:

  • When I’m traveling on a flight for work, I’ll connect the keyboard to reply to emails or Teams chats.

  • When I’m catching up on DMs and texts that I’m oh so desperately behind on, I can move a lot quicker.

  • When I need to pay medical bills or fill out information in MyChart, it’s easier for me to access on my phone than desktop.
